Demo finale

Tree Boss

A parry-focused skill check built around heavy attack tells, purple projectile timing, and disciplined healing windows.

Quick checklist

  • - Do not race the health bar; learn the arm wind-up first.
  • - Parry slow heavy swings, but dodge or reset spacing during purple patterns.
  • - Heal only after a committed boss recovery, not during pressure.

Watch the boss recovery, not only the hitbox

  • - Use the enemy wind-up as the first cue, then wait for the committed swing before trying a parry.
  • - After a purple pattern starts, stop attacking first. Movement and spacing matter more than a quick punish.
  • - Only heal after the boss has finished a full animation and you have enough distance to avoid a follow-up hit.

Fight plan

Treat the Tree Boss as a rhythm test, not a damage race. Stay close enough to read the arms, but do not lock yourself into long attack strings.

Use parry on slow, clear heavy swings. Dodge when the purple attack pattern starts or when you need to reset spacing.

A safe loop is: block or wait, identify the telegraph, parry the heavy if the timing is clear, land one or two hits, then return to neutral instead of forcing a combo.

Phase pressure

The boss becomes most dangerous when you panic after seeing purple attacks. Treat the purple pattern as a spacing check: stop attacking, move first, then punish only after the sequence ends.

If you get cornered, prioritize survival over damage. A clean reset is worth more than a risky hit that forces a bad heal.

v0.1.10 note

Reference material for v0.1.10 says boss damage and purple attack speed were reduced. Treat that as a version-specific note and recheck the official itch.io page if a newer build appears.

If you are learning the fight, use the Windows build for steadier input and key rebinding when that option is available on the official listing.

Common mistake

Most failed runs come from panic dodging or healing too early. Wait for a full recovery window after a committed boss animation.

Another common mistake is relying on dodge for every threat. Apostate Verity expects players to use block and parry as primary tools, especially in boss fights.

Practice checklist

Before trying to win, spend one attempt only watching the boss animation tells. On the next attempt, practice parrying a single repeatable heavy. Once that timing is stable, start adding safe damage.

If WebGL performance makes timing feel inconsistent, switch to the Windows download and use key rebinding if the default layout feels uncomfortable.
